MALLORCA BOOM
Mallorca Boom despliega una mirada foránea sobre el territorio de Mallorca. Jordi Bernadó recorre la isla, con una visión analítica a la vez que irónica, con la intención de documentar y sondear los rastros, fenómenos e indicios que el turismo deja sobre el paisaje. Navegando la ambigüedad de su propia presencia en la isla, Bernadó se convierte en un viajero más, alguien que llega de fuera a habitar transitoriamente el territorio; sin embargo, es precisamente desde esta fugaz foraneidad que el artista logra observar aquello que no puede ser visto desde dentro.

(…) Las fotografías de Jordi Bernadó me han provocado, como siempre, un trastorno de la memoria, recuerdos bien diversos de aproximación a las islas. Y los recuerdos del viaje a Mallorca, realizado en tantas ocasiones. Hoy, el viaje se ha hecho recreación de una realidad vivida, y de una nueva deseada.
En el viaje busco siempre la belleza y el conocimiento… el espesor del legado del pasado y la nobleza del presente. Ningún viaje es lineal, y en él se aprecian los polos de una realidad convulsa, de antagonismos y contradicciones. Hermoso y siniestro, se presentan como la mirada más común de una mirada dialógica. Mallorca no es extraña a esta mirada y se me presenta como una bella paradoja: de la fuerza épica de un territorio insular, al mismo tiempo que muchos grumos y fragmentos de paisajes globalizados. Mallorca, te ofrece siempre un panorama de contradicciones, si nos referimos al paisaje humano y a la fisiogeografía del territorio antropizado. (…)
Mallorca Boom casts an outsider's eye over the territory of Mallorca. Jordi Bernadó travels around the island, with a vision that is both analytical and ironic, with the intention of surveying and documenting the traces, phenomena and signs that tourism leaves on the landscape. Navigating the ambiguity of his own presence on the island, Bernadó becomes just another traveller, someone who arrives from outside to briefly inhabit the territory; however, it is precisely from this fleeting foreignness that the artist manages to observe that which cannot be seen from within.

(…) The photographs of Jordi Bernadó have provoked, as usual, an upheaval in my memory; scattered memories of approach to the islands. And the memories of the trip to Majorca, done in so many stages. Today, the trip has turned into a recreation of the reality lived through, and of a new desired one.
In the trip I always search for beauty and knowledge… the thickness of the heritage of the past and the nobility of the present. No trip is linear, and the dust of a convulsed reality, of antagonisms and contradictions can be appreciated in it. The beautiful and the sinister are presented as the most common consideration of a dialogic look, and it appears to me as a beautiful parados: of the epic strength of an insular territory, together with many lumps and fragments of globalized landscapes. Majorca always offers you a view of contradictions, if we refer to the human landscape and the physical geography of the humanized territory. (…)
